With two kids of my own, I quickly found that the most treasured gift was diapers.  However, simply wrapping up a package of diapers isn't that much fun to give or receive.  I decided there had to be a way to put diapers together that would be fun - and Kel's BabyCakes was born!!

I began making diaper cakes more than ten years ago with a 1 tier diaper cake loaded with baby necessities hidden inside.  In the past three years, I expanded the cakes to include up to 3 tiers which inspired our own baby shower game.  Through trial and error with my little ones, I have tried almost every baby item known to man (or woman!) and I continue to use only items that I loved and found useful on a daily basis.  It is also important to make a diaper cake that's a great value to our customers.  That's why the 3 tier Kel's BabyCake diaper cakes contain over $175 worth of everyday useable baby necessities for only $94.99!!  The result is a diaper cake that not only looks great, but also presents the recipient with the basic essentials every mom needs.  We take great pride in our diaper cakes so you can too. Over 90% of our customers are corporate clients, who are thrilled with the feedback they receive after sending a client one of our Kel's BabyCakes. We are also INCREDIBLY proud, and blessed, to add that 100% of our corporate accounts are repeat customers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

As I have been closing the file on 2005, I have become painfully aware of what a whirlwind year it truly was. It was the year we changed our marketing strategy, became exhibitors at The American Baby Faire and Kroger's Baby & Kid Expo, decided not to sell any of our diaper cakes on auction sites, began supporting some incredible organizations and found our way to the NFL! Thanks to some amazingly talented individuals we are proud to have served, I have rediscovered my LOVE for football and baseball, which will become more apparent with products that are currently in the works.

Personally, 2005 was the year I realized how important TRUE friends are because the only thing you can do alone is fail. Every month, I look around the table at our "Alpha Babe" get togethers and wonder how I managed to find all of the wonderful women who have held me up and held me together through one of the most difficult, yet most rewarding years of my life. Thank you all so much for putting up with me!!

Special "Thank You"s to some of the people I am closest to: my dearest friend, mentor, best diaper roller and sales woman EVER, Donna, who taught me that there actually are people in this world who will stand by you even when there is nothing in it for them. My Abbey, who taught me that a child can be yours even if you didn't give birth to her! To Chaz, my amazing "marketing" man who chases down pregnant woman to give them our business card. To Aidan, my constant companion, who plays in the office while I work and still manages to act like each diaper cake is the first he's ever seen - "Oh mommy, that's BEAUTIFUL!". To the best set of parents in the world who still excitedly call me from a store when they find a set of baby items on clearance, just like they did in the early days of our business. Between their collective senior moments ("I know I put those receipts in a safe place"), they have achieved true greatness in my eyes. Last, but certainly not least, my husband who finally got on board when he saw a package addressed to a famous couple HE admires.

2005 certainly was memorable and life changing in so many ways. We had wonderful additions in Babies R Us, Happy 2 B Music and The Prenatal Experience; as well as painful losses, Sarah, who left us for Washington, precious Ma, who left us for Heaven. So many wonderful people have walked through my life, and they gave me so much - especially the gift of laughter. Some lessons I'd like to share: 1) Garage doors are NOT car proof 2) EVERYBODY has an agenda 3) Family, either chosen or born, is the ONLY thing 4) No car battery can withstand an overnighter, complete with keys and the soundtrack of "Rent", and still start in the morning 5) Never take yourself too seriously or start believing your own press 6) Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation can fly off the roof of a moving vehicle, bounce on the street and not shatter 7) A new 16 year old driver can keep her "confidant" young and age her mother AT THE SAME TIME ("I've got a headache right here!") 8) Sometimes, you have to admit, "I got nothing" 9) Everything looks better through a "Frrrozen Hot Chocolate" fog and, finally, 10) Love truly is blind, as well as deaf, dumb and unable to smell.

I have so many things to be thankful for, most of all, I thank God for giving me the ability to do what I love (and I still do love it) and for continuing to surround me with amazing people, special human angels sent at just the right times and the strongest, most protective guardian angel I could ever hope to have on my side.  My cup runneth over!
